Connectivity Development and Opportunities in Africa

The airwaves are alive with stories about the opportunities Information Communication Technologies are creating in Africa.

In Kenya, there are Internet Service Provider options from Kenya Data Networks Digital Villages Plan.  For a one time fee, Kenya Data Networks will provide access to the internet in a building with existing computers, an are Internet Service A Digital Village is basically a computer facility located in Rural or Peri-urban areas that provides access to ICTs (Information and Communication Technologies) in addition to accelerating the economic and social development of local communities. The project is meant to demonstrate the synergies that are obtained in a government and private-sector initiative (PPP), mapped out along political districts. At the moment, every constituency represented in Parliament will get a facility with a minimum of eight workstations. Digital Villages are to be owned by individuals or organizations based in the communities where the facilities are to be located. To assist the owners to set-up, expand, and sustain their operations, funding will be obtained from the following sources
