Some Experiences Change Our Perspective on the World We Live In. Come with Us ...Be Changed Service and Safari Trip 2024 We are looking at June for 10-14 days which will include an unforgettable week of service in a rural Kenya farming community and 5 optional days of Safari
There are many reasons you may have thought it was out of reach. We know how to make this possible, comfortable, and rewarding for you. The trip length will depend on some of your own choices of Safaris or trips to special places to visit. Spend days walking local roads, meeting families, visiting classrooms, the homebound, the village markets, and local churches.
Some quotes from these testimonies: Beth Hickey says, " This was an authentic experience.. we made genuine relationships in a short period of time. “It was an experience I will always remember.” Rose Hickey said “ I had always heard about Kenya from my mother’s stories of her Peace Corp experience. I loved connecting with the people in the community. seeing kids our own age. I always felt safe there, safer than I do in the US.” Julie, “I was impressed at how disciplined the children were in the classroom. I loved the dance performances the children did for us.”“ Kevin “ I won’t forget the smiles of the children. The children followed me on a walk up to the big rock, the group grew as we walked along and the children made sure I found my way and that I was safe.”
Service In the Village . The location is Malakisi in Western Kenya among the rolling hills in the shadow of Mount Elgon. Your cost is travel, food and the assistance of property caretakers. We will host you in our village at the farm of the Episcopal church. This is the time to contribute your hands and heart to the community in the manner of your choosing. People from the countryside feel honored that you have come to their village. Whatever skills you have: teaching soccer or volleyball, playing chess or checkers, teaching them some nutrition or food preparation, carpentry, or working in the gardens, teaching coding, doing an art, music or writing project. All are welcomed!
Bring your skills to rural Kenyan youth and their families, whether it is as a teacher, a health care worker, or just bring yourself. Read stories to children, teach them music, show them how to sew, or play soccer or build fitness. Visit with the disabled.
Talk to adolescent girls about their lives and future.
Plant some trees or assist in planting and harvesting crops
Visit the local schools to share your expertise and personal stories
OPTIONAL SAFARI OPTIONS The choices are yours. We will assist in the arrangements based on the wildlife you want to see and the cost you can afford. Here are some game reserves and conservancies we collaborate with:
The Laikipia Conservancy near Mt. Kenya. This area combines several conservancies and is one of the largest in the country.
Sweetwaters Game Reserve near Mt Kenya: https://www.olpejetaconservancy.org/ol-pejeta-escapes/tented-camps-lodges/sweetwaters-serena-camp/ The 24,000 Acre Sweetwaters Game Sanctuary is currently part of the Ol Pejeta Conservancy.
Lake Nakuru National Park. We loved this park because of the density of the animal species and the lake with rhinos and flamingos.
Maasai Mara: Amboseli and Arusha or launching sports for Safaris into the Ngorogoro Crater.
